About Me
My name is Melody Li, I'm a senior in high school and was born and raised in Taiwan. I started. to do art as a kid, from drawings to sketching, to sculpting, to painting, I found that art is a method for me to express stress, and express emotions. My art work fluctuate with my emotions, it could be bright and dark. I moved to Hawaii during my junior year of high school, and the transition was really tough for me at first. Back at home, I studied at the same school all my life, I grew up with the same group of friends, and lived with my family every single day. It all changed after studying abroad in Hawaii. I have to adjust to a totally different environment and make new friends, it was just like leaving my city life behind and creating a brand new life. There are a lot of international students at my school, and I can see that it is really hard for each of us to integrate into a foreign culture. Homesickness is something that we have all been through. This has really impacted me, personally and I decided to use this artwork to let other students know that they are not alone. I also wanted to share more about my country, Taiwan.
